I work in a regional office and the culture is great. Everyone has a team perspective and are willing to pull together when the going gets tough. We have irregular Friday lunches where every person in the office will go to a local restaurant and socialise. Friday afternoon drinks also occur irregularly. The office manager certainly drives the culture - he started working here as an undergrad and now is in his early 30s. He is a person we all respect for his technical work, his leadership abilities and his care and concern for the people he works with. In the bigger cities, the culture is different. Each department is often a bit isolated from others and there is less of a community spirit. Also, young professionals are much more restricted in the work that they do because of hierarchy and the culture of seniority.

In my team there is a focus on self-care and flexible work situations. My team is very supportive of one another. Outside of work, there are plenty of events and social occasions to participate in.

Good teamwork and lots of socialising

I like that the higher up management do not have separate offices. We all sit together. Everybody is friendly and we have regular get together. Friday fortnightly office drinks are great for catching up.

In my office there is a great culture of inclusion and teamwork in day-to-day activities. The company also has a great socialising culture with weekly drinks and exercise/sports activities.

Overall a good culture and a strong work ethic. Plenty of after work functions and socializing.
Graduate, Sydney - 30 Jan 2017
Varies from team to team and group to group. Monthly drinks plus semi-regular informal meetups. Graduates are more social than seniors etc.
Graduate, Sydney - 27 Jan 2017
Large amount of upper management, good cooperation within the team, not so good between teams. monthly drinks provide a good opportunity to socialise

What I find quite unique about AECOM is despite the size of the company you can find a different bubble of culture in each department- which makes it easier to establish a close relationship with colleagues.
Graduate, Sydney - 27 Jan 2017
Cooperation and teamwork is great, it's a welcoming culture that recognises you have a life outside of work.
Graduate, Melbourne - 27 Jan 2017
Colleagues are very kind and great to get along with. Not a lot of socialising by some.
Graduate, Townsville - 27 Jan 2017
Office politics play a big part and differs from office to office. Some business lines are not that inclusive socially until they get to know you.
Graduate, Sydney - 27 Jan 2017
Company culture is great, we have flexible hours (for a grad this is obviously limited because we have a lot to learn), team work is fantastic everyone gets along and has a common goal, our bosses are great, people go for drinks after work, have team lunches when it's not too busy, the assistant directors and team leaders are approachable and friendly.
Graduate, Melbourne - 27 Jan 2017
Great culture in the Newcastle office with good work/life balance. Extra hours required to meet deadlines but there is no culture of consistently staying late. Work is mostly individual but in the context of a team of 5-10.
Midlevel, Newcastle - 27 Jan 2017
Generally good culture; flexible working hours; co-operation and teamwork could be improved. Hierarchy is based on who you know rather than technical skill.
Experienced, Sydney - 25 Jan 2017
There does not appear to be a social club that I have found. Everyone works long and hard (usually 50+ hour weeks) in the office. Each smaller team will have presentations where they will put on pizza and drinks for their employees, however with the exception of the Christmas party, there are no wider company social occasions that I have experienced.

Locally there is a great sense of team. This also extends to other offices where there is regular communication, collaboration and contact. For graduates and young engineers there are active social activities outside of work hours.
Experienced, Brisbane - 25 Jan 2017
Lots of team building events
Graduate, Sydney - 25 Jan 2017
Friendly people both in the office and after hours. There is almost always time for a coffee and a chat. Many staff play sport together, catch up after work for drinks, and form strong friendships that endure once they change offices or leave AECOM.
Midlevel, Brisbane - 25 Jan 2017
Collegiate, lively group, frequent out of hours catch ups. Everyone is willing to pitch in to meet goals and deadlines
