Like anywhere this will depend on the person. There is a large pool of really great managers at AEMO, and I've had great experience with most of them. Some have been really great mentors to me, and across the board they've all had my health and interests as their primary interest. Higher up the chain where there is more responsibility to a wider group of stakeholders, there may be more criticism of management.

Most managers are very accessible, and are open to communication. We have an open-floor policy so it is easy to approach them during working hours.

Praise comes in many forms in the company. Some examples include, in our formal goal setting without managers, above and beyond awards across the whole company, shoutouts in department meetings and informal oral and written feedback.
