Do Good Things at Coles.

Customers are at the heart of everything we do, and with 21 million customers a week; we do a lot here at Coles Group. Feed your career ambition by joining one of our 3 Operations functions, each doing good things, every day.

Across our two year graduate program, you’ll develop a mix of technical, operational and leadership skills through your work on real challenges and meaningful projects. We’re looking for future leaders across the business, in Supermarkets Operations, Coles Express Operations and Distribution Centre Operations.

Our graduate program has been built on the foundation of empowering and supporting everyone to perform at their best.

We are committed to building a safe and supportive working environment for all team members, regardless of age, disability, race, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or background, and encourage all applications.

Pros and cons of working at Coles AU

Pros

  • Scope of work is huge. We take on real projects and work with real tangible outcomes to our team and customers.

  • People - great culture. Robust and fast-paced. Given a lot of responsibility as a graduate

  • Very flexible work. It feels like they are constantly trying to improve for their employees. I feel welcome and supported by my team and personnel.

  • The pay is competitive, the work is challenging but rewarding and there is plenty of opportunities to leave your mark on the business.

  • Working in a small team of like-minded people, I am exposed to a vast range of projects, tasks and challenges. Despite being only four months into my graduate program, I already feel a sense of worth amongst my colleagues.

  • The autonomy I am given and the versatility of my role

Cons

    • Technology can be slow at times

    • It is a large organisation so if you are not proactive then you can get lost.

    • At times there's long working hours - but you'd get that in any workplace!

    • Distribution of resources. Some departments are overworked, specifically merchandise.

    • The amount of bureaucracy and red tape. Large organisations are very hard to make agile

    • At the moment, there are no standouts, but it does seem like a small minority of employees can fall into the trap of being quite inward-looking (avoiding direct competitors and showing bias)
