Sustainability at Coles

There are constant updates on how teams are trying to reduce the SSC's environmental impact through recycling coffee cups and opening up to suggestions from team members.

Environmentally friendly initiatives, recycling etc. rolled out both in the support centre and in stores.

It is constantly trying to lessen waste and improve recycling and efficiency.

Innovating and working on smarter ways of working

Lots of efforts and communications about this lately. Coles innovation and nurture funds have assisted in this. A recent coffee cup recycling station has been set up and have been very successful. Solar panels to power supermarkets is another large project in the works

Coles' has diverted aprox 1 billion pieces of plastic away from landfill and be recycled, further to this the own brand team has reduced Salt in our private label products by over 100 million KGs a year. Following this, Coles has also signed a deal with solar panels and will be able to power a states worth of stores (I believe, may need to be fact checked)through solar power.

Place high importance on it but actions could be higher in volume to reduce environmental footprint given the size of the company.

Actively pursues suppliers who are conscious of this, lots of bin options.

Similarly to charity and diversity work, this is something that's always on the agenda.
