You will be involved in developing web applications, geo-mapping tools, data analytics systems and cloud computing environments using contemporary ICT and DevOps techniques.
Supported by our comprehensive Graduate Development Program, you will be part of a highly skilled team comprising a Senior Development Lead (Software Architect) and a number of experienced Software Developers.
What will you be involved in
- Engaging in a variety of technical work including software development, testing and deployment;
- Building spikes and proof of concept (PoC) solutions;
- Developing and deploying AWS Cloud architectures;
- Learning how to work in the cloud and employ best practice DevOps principles e.g. infrastructure as code, CI/CD, proactive monitoring;
- Engaging with our motivated and experienced team delivering high value projects and products to our clients;
- Collaborating with internal and external teams; and
- Taking part in our Graduate Development Program.
What we would like from you
- Bachelor of Information Technology Degree or Bachelor of Science (Computer Science);
- Hands on experience or understanding of OO and/or functional languages such as Java, Scala, Ruby, Javascript;
- An understanding of agile software development practices;
- Open to learning other languages and frameworks that support our technical direction;
- Australian Citizen (due to Defence Security requirements);
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Clear communication skills both written and verbal; and
- Team player with a can-do attitude.

Cons
The small size can often mean that there's not much opportunity to get involved in disciplines other than Systems Engineering
At times communications can break down. Possibility of getting pigeonholed in one type of role.
Due to the consulting nature of the work, there are weeks when the work is slow and weeks where there is so much work to do! I am sure this is a struggle in any organisation. At times I have found it a challenge to manage different work fronts and changing priorities as is the nature of my department.
The commute
Number of working hours can be a lot, hard to balance work-life sometimes
At the beginning of my application, I had some issues surrounding start dates and what was going on. Which was a headache, but managed around it.
