We know developing and growing our people is key to achieving our company growth plans. Our size and pace means more opportunities, earlier in your career.

Woodside's Graduate Development Program plays an important role in building our long-term technical and leadership capabilities. We've refined our approach to graduate development over more than 30 years to ensure Woodside graduates reach professional independence in an industry-leading timeframe. We're proud to be recognised as one of Australia's top graduate employers.

Woodside's three-year, competency-based program offers experiences and opportunities to develop both your technical and leadership skills, including:

  • Rotational assignments - both within and outside your discipline
  • Site visits to our plants in Karratha, Western Australia
  • Extensive on-the-job training
  • Structured business and technical development
  • Individual technical mentors and graduate buddies
  • A proactive and dynamic graduate community, as well active employee community groups for gender equality, reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians, and LGBTI+ staff and allies.
  • Community volunteering opportunities
  • Heavily subsidised gym membership
  • A competitive remuneration package, featuring performance-based incentives, share plans, above-industry superannuation contributions, and a generous health insurance allowance.

We look for innovators and passionate problem solvers from wide range of degrees. Try our new tool to match your degree with our graduate disciplines, and find the best fit for you. Woodside is an increasingly inclusive and diverse company. No matter your field or background, you share the same values we do – and you can demonstrate it. We encourage applications from both domestic and international students in their final year of study, or graduated within the past two years.

Applications for the 2020 Graduate Development Program open on Monday 18 February 2019 and close on Friday 22 March 2019 at 11.59PM AWST.

We will be visiting university campuses around Australia during this time, so you can get to know our people and find out more about our program.

Pros and cons of working at Woodside Energy AU

Pros

  • I am surrounded by amazing people on my team who are caring and nurturing and always there for me. They care for me both professionally and personally.

  • Great peer group and networks, learning development support and visibility to senior leaders.

  • Very high level of responsibility given to graduates in Subsea and Pipelines. There are plenty of opportunities to go offshore and on site to learn. Professional development is valued.

  • The level of responsibility which is entrusted to graduates makes them strive to perform at higher levels.

  • Flexibility in role. Great variety of roles available in company. Open to developing different skills. Very good and friendly culture.

Cons

    • Roles and experiences can vary between graduates.

    • Currently Woodside is an Australian company with the majority of its interests limited to Australia. However, I anticipate this will change as the company expands globally over the next 5-10 years.

    • Bureaucratic. Lack of support from senior engineers - due to their heavy workload, not from lack of trying.
