Psychology and marketing work hand-in-hand, as modern day business requires a clear understanding of consumers’ needs and wants. Having a psychology background while working in marketing, or vice-versa, will provide a more insightful knowledge base to deal with the day-to-day challenges of the business world.
In this double degree you will learn key concepts and theories in psychology and marketing and apply them to real-world situations. You will develop an advanced knowledge of the human brain and behaviour and acquire analytical methods to examine how culture, personality and lifestyle affect the behaviour of consumers.
You will learn how to analyse and interpret market research data using appropriate technologies and identify local, regional and global issues that affect business. You will also learn advanced psychological methods and the ethical implications of research.
This double degree will enable you to run your own virtual company in the business capstone unit. In this unit, you will use the internationally developed Capsim software to make decisions about market share, manufacturing, cash flow, product development and other factors that will interplay and affect your business's performance.
Students can enrol in the Business Internship unit in the final year of the course.
