Domestic applicants

• any program specific requirements that are listed below.

b) Non school leavers who:

• complete a recognised Australian (or equivalent) post-secondary qualification, or

• complete one standard full-time year (1.0 FTE) of an Australian (or equivalent) degree qualification, or

• complete an approved tertiary preparation course/program without undertaking any further study,

will be assessed on the basis of an equivalent selection rank that is calculated upon application. Non school leavers must also meet any program specific requirements that are listed below.

International applicants

Applicants who complete a recognised secondary/senior secondary/post-secondary/tertiary sequence of study will be assessed on the basis of an equivalent selection rank that is calculated upon application. ANU offers rank adjustments for a number of adjustment factors, including for high achievement in nationally strategic senior secondary subjects and for recognition of difficult circumstances that students face in their studies. Rank adjustments are applied to Bachelor degree applicants with an ATAR at or above 70. Points are awarded in accordance with the approved schedules, and no more than 15 points (maximum 5 subject/performance-based adjustments, maximum 10 equity-based adjustments and maximum 5 Elite Athlete adjustments) will be awarded. Admission requirements

A successfully completed Evidence-Based Management EdX MicroMasters, achieving at least 70% in the final capstone exam.

Applicants without a completed Bachelor's degree (with minimum GPA of 5.0/7.0) or ANU Graduate Certificate of Management (with minimum GPA of 5.0/7.0) or successfully completed Evidence-Based Management EdX MicroMasters (with at least 70% in the final capstone exam), can be considered for admission using a minimum GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) score of 550 or higher plus at least 3 years full-time work experience.

Academic achievement & English language proficiency

The minimum academic requirement for full entry and enrolment is a Bachelor degree or international equivalent with a minimum GPA of 5.0/7.0. 

However, applicants will first be ranked on a GPA ('GPA1') that is calculated using all but the last semester (or equivalent) of the Bachelor degree used for admission purposes. 

If required, ranking may further be confirmed on the basis of: 

• a GPA ('GPA2') calculated on the penultimate and antepenultimate semesters (or equivalent) of the Bachelor degree used for admission purposes; and/or

• demonstrating higher-level English language proficiency. 

Prior to enrolment in this ANU program, all students who gain entry will have their Bachelor degree reassessed, to confirm minimum requirements were met.

To be admitted to the Master of Philosophy in Applied Epidemiology program you will be required to have an Australian Bachelor Degree with at least upper second class honours or its international equivalent, or a Graduate Diploma or Master Degree with a significant research thesis component.

All applicants must meet the University’s English Language Admission Requirements for Students.

You may be granted admission if you can demonstrate that you have a background equivalent to these qualifications, which may include publication of relevant research in peer review journals and professional experience.

It is highly desirable that applicants have at least two years of previous work experience in health or public health. Admission to the program is extremely competitive and suits doctors, nurses, public health scientists, veterinarians, and environmental health officers, who have some postgraduate training and work experience.

Applicants with a Bachelor Degree or Graduate Certificate in a cognate discipline may be eligible for up to 24 units (one semester) of credit. Applicants with a Graduate Diploma or Bachelor degree with Honours in a cognate discipline may be eligible for up to 48 units (one year) of credit.

This program is restricted to approved Defence personnel who hold a Bachelors of Laws, Juris Doctor or international equivalent qualifying the candidate for admission to legal practice in Australia. It is only open to nominees of the Department of Defence.

Students must achieve a minimum 70% weighted average mark in the initial 48 units of coursework and have the approval of the supervisor for the research project to continue to the research component.

To be admitted to the Doctor of Philosophy program you will be required to have a bachelor’s degree with a first or upper second class honours degree from an Australian university, or a Masters Degree with a significant research thesis component, or a qualification equivalent or superior to these as determined by the Director of the National Centre for Indigenous Studies. 

You may be granted admission if you can demonstrate that you have a qualification and/or research experience equivalent to these qualifications. Applicants with a Masters with a distinction average are encouraged to apply.

All applicants must meet the University’s English Language Admission Requirements for Students

To be admitted to the Master of Philosophy program you will be required to have completed at least a three-year Australian undergraduate degree or equivalent with a result of at least H2A.

You may be granted admission if you can demonstrate that you have research experience equivalent to these qualifications, for example, through postgraduate study.

with a weighted average mark equivalent to an ANU 70 per cent calculated from the 36 units (i.e. 0.75 EFTSL), excluding 1000-level courses, with the highest marks, which must include 24 units from the following courses which are compulsory in the Bachelor of International Relations:

Admission to all programs is on a competitive basis. Admission to undergraduate degrees is based on meeting the ATAR requirement or an equivalent rank derived from the following qualifications:
- An Australian year 12 qualification or international equivalent; OR
- A completed Associate Diploma, Associate Degree, AQF Diploma, Diploma, AQF Advanced Diploma, Graduate Certificate or international equivalent; OR
- At least one standard full-time year (1.0 FTE) in a single program of degree level study at an Australian higher education institution or international equivalent; OR
- An approved tertiary preparation course unless subsequent study is undertaken.
