The minimum academic requirement for full entry and enrolment is a Bachelor degree or international equivalent with a minimum GPA of 5.0/7.0.

However, applicants will first be ranked on a GPA ('GPA1') that is calculated using all but the last semester (or equivalent) of the Bachelor degree used for admission purposes.

If required, ranking may further be confirmed on the basis of:

• a GPA ('GPA2') calculated on the penultimate and antepenultimate semesters (or equivalent) of the Bachelor degree used for admission purposes; and/or

• demonstrating higher-level English language proficiency.

Prior to enrolment in this ANU program, all students who gain entry will have their Bachelor degree reassessed, to confirm minimum requirements were met.

ANU uses a 7-point Grade Point Average (GPA) scale. All qualifications submitted for admission at ANU will be converted to this common scale, which will determine if an applicant meets our published admission requirements. Unless otherwise indicated, where an applicant has more than one completed tertiary qualification, ANU will calculate the GPA for each qualification separately. ANU will base assessment on the best GPA of all completed tertiary qualifications of the same level or higher.

Applications for course credit

Applicants with a Bachelor Degree or Graduate Certificate in a cognate discipline may be eligible for 24 units (one semester) of credit.

Applicants with a Graduate Diploma or Honours in a cognate discipline may be eligible for 48 units (one year) of credit.

Credit for relevant work experience may be considered and will be determined in accordance with the University’s Credit Policy and Procedure

a) will be assessed on:

• the minimum Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) requirement or equivalent for this program,

b) Non school leavers who:

• complete a recognised Australian (or equivalent) post-secondary qualification, or

• complete one standard full-time year (1.0 FTE) of an Australian (or equivalent) degree qualification, or

• complete an approved tertiary preparation course/program without undertaking any further study,

will be assessed on the basis of an equivalent selection rank that is calculated upon application. Non school leavers must also meet any program specific requirements that are listed below.

International applicants

Applicants who complete a recognised secondary/senior secondary/post-secondary/tertiary sequence of study will be assessed on the basis of an equivalent selection rank that is calculated upon application. Applicants without a completed Bachelor's degree (with minimum GPA of 5.0/7.0) or ANU Graduate Certificate of Management (with minimum GPA of 5.0/7.0) or successfully completed Evidence-Based Management EdX MicroMasters (with at least 70% in the final capstone exam), can be considered for admission using a minimum GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) score of 550 or higher plus at least 3 years full-time work experience.

Applicants must also have either a qualification at AQF Level 8 or higher (Master degree or Graduate Diploma), or at least 3 years’ work experience in science education or similar fields, which together are considered by ANU to be the equivalent in the learning outcomes of a cognate AQF Level 8 Graduate Diploma.

All applicants will be interviewed and the Science Communications program Committee will evaluate their suitability for the program.

An AQF Level 7 Bachelor Degree, or international equivalent, completed within the last two years:

• that satisfies the requirements for the completion of an ANU accounting major or equivalent university study, and
• with a weighted average mark equivalent to an ANU 70 per cent calculated from the 36 units (i.e. 0.75 EFTSL) of courses eligible for inclusion in an ANU accounting major or equivalent, excluding 1000-level courses (i.e. introductory undergraduate courses), with the highest marks.
• and with the written approval of the Honours Convener.

The number of places available in the program may be limited by the Dean due to supervisory capacity, and admission to Honours is with the written approval of the Honours Convener.
