The Diploma of Business Studies course is designed to provide you with foundation skills in business and management.
Entry Requirements
English Requirements:
If you were not born in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa or United States of America, you are required to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements set by the University.
Applicants are required to provide evidence of completion of:
  • a secondary qualification (Year 11 and 12, or equivalent), or
  • tertiary diploma level qualification, or
  • bachelor level qualification study for a period of at least 2 years fulltime with a minimum overall GPA 4.0 completed within Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, South Africa, Ireland, or United States of America, which will meet the English proficiency.
If you do not satisfy any of the above you will need to undertake an English language proficiency test and achieve the following scores :
  • An International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic) overall band score of at least 5.5 overall with a minimum 5.0 in each subset; or
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - Requires 550 or better overall and minimum TWE score of 4.5 (Paper Based Test), or 65 or better overall and no score less than 15 (Internet Based Test); or
  • An Occupational English Test with Grades A or B only in each of the four components; or
  • Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) - Overall test score of 162 (with no individual band score of less than 154).; or
  • Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) - Overall test score of 162 (with no individual band score of less than 154).; or
  • Combined Universities Language Test (CULT) - 70% with no individual component score of less than 15.
English test results remain valid for no more than two years between final examination date and the date of commencement of study, and must appear on a single result certificate.

1. English is your primary language and:

a. you have attended and satisfactorily completed at least six years of primary and secondary education taught and assessed solely in English in a recognised country, including at least two years between years 7 and 12, and

Recognised country means one of the following countries:

CQUniversity will only accept the successful completion of five (5) years (full-time equivalent) continuous education that is a combination of:

a) tertiary and secondary education taught and assessed in English; or

b) tertiary and vocational education taught and assessed in English; or

c) combined tertiary, secondary and vocational education taught and assessed in English; or

d) tertiary education taught and assessed in English

If you do not satisfy any of the above you will need to undertake an English language proficiency test and achieve the following scores as below. English test results remain valid for no more than two years between final examination date and the date of commencement of study.

1. IELTS (academic module). We only accept test results:

from one test sitting, or

a maximum of two test sittings in a six-month period only if:

you achieve a minimum overall score of 7 in each sitting, and

you achieve a minimum score of 7 in each component across the two sittings, and

no score in any component of the test is below 6.5

2. OET. We will only accept test results:

from one test sitting, or

a minimum total score of 94 is achieved in each sitting, and you achieve a minimum score of 24 for listening, 24 for reading, 27 for writing and 23 for speaking across the two sittings, and

no score in any of the sections is below:

20 for listening

19 for reading

24 for writing, and

20 for speaking
